Transparency

Clear communication channels and transparency, also with regard to donations and membership fees, are of great concern to us.

The Verein Wald und Klima Ursern is located in the heart of the Swiss Alps and is responsible for implementing a native forest project. With the commitment of our volunteers, staff and partners, we plant forests in the Ursern Valley. Clear communication channels and transparency, also with regard to donations and membership fees, are very important to us.

What happens to my money?

The calculated cost of a tree plant is CHF 20. The seedling and its planting process account for about 30%. Plant protection includes the costs for “Dreibeinböcke” (three-legged wooden structures) and snow rakes to ensure protection against natural hazards.

The same amount is spent on maintenance over the first 10 years. The “Miscellaneous” item includes bush clearance, preparatory and planning work.

For us, transparency includes informing you about the progress of the individual reforestation areas via our newsletter and organising an annual event. In this way, you can see on the spot how the money has been invested.

Each year, we will plant several thousand seedlings in the different areas. Due to this large number, we will not be able to label each seedling with a donor name. That would mean an incredible amount of administrative work and tie up time resources. We consider the time to be better invested if we take care of the reforested areas at this point. In this way, we can ensure a key factor for successful reforestation.

Reforestation is not completed with the planting of the seedlings: the tree plants need intensive care in the first 5 years. The project steps are structured in such a way that sufficient time is always planned in the following years to take care of the previously reforested areas.
