Annual General Meeting Report 2025

New Board Members and Milestones

On Monday, 7 April 2025, the fourth general assembly of the association Wald & Klima Ursern took place in Andermatt. Together with many guests, president Gabi Huber looked back on a very successful year:

In 2024, 1,200 new trees were planted in Andermatt and Hospental — increasing the total number of trees planted to 4,375. Around 170 dedicated volunteers contributed their time and energy to planting and maintenance days in the forest.

Changes on the Board

There was also a change in the board of directors: Beat Schmid stepped down and was warmly thanked for his commitment. His successor as representative of the Korporation Ursern is Marcel Christen.

Additionally, Carmen Carfora and Janick Staub were newly elected to the board. All other board members as well as auditor René Zimmermann were re-elected and confirmed in office.

Reforestation Project Now Offers CO₂ Compensation

A major milestone was the successful validation of the reforestation project by consulting and engineering firm EBP Schweiz AG. This validation means that the project now meets the official requirements to offer voluntary CO₂ compensation services. The first contract was signed with the Urner Kantonalbank — and additional CO₂ credits are now available for sale.

Forest Education for Children and Schools

Wald & Klima Ursern also placed a strong focus on environmental education in 2024:
Forest days for school classes and kindergarten groups as well as the popular children’s expedition in August offered exciting learning experiences in nature.

Invitation to Join — Experience the Forest Up Close

The association warmly invites everyone to take part in the public forest afternoons and experience the reforestation project first-hand.
Information about participation, membership, and volunteering opportunities is available on the website.
Gift certificates for Forest sponsorships also remain a popular way to support the project.
