First Run for Forest – 261 Kilometres for the Forest
Last Sunday, June 29, marked the premiere of the Run for Forest. The sponsored run in support of the regional reforestation project took place in beautiful weather in Hospental – and turned out to be a great success despite its small scale.
A total of 31 enthusiastic runners – including children, teenagers, and adults – completed lap after lap for the forest. In the end, they tallied an impressive 814 laps, which corresponds to a total of 261 kilometres. For each lap, parents, grandparents, friends, or businesses donated a self-selected amount – all in support of the reforestation efforts by Wald & Klima Ursern. The joy of movement and the shared commitment to the forest were at the heart of the event.
Sandy Müller, head of the Wald & Klima Ursern office, offers a positive summary:
“We are thrilled by the dedication of all participants. It was a day full of energy, joy, and community – and at the same time a concrete contribution to climate protection here in the valley.”
The association Wald & Klima Ursern extends heartfelt thanks to all participants, sponsors, helpers, and supporters. Thanks to them, the forest in the Ursern Valley will continue to grow – tree by tree.
